Topic Ideas 

Sometimes it seems difficult to find ideas  for your inquiry. There are a number of approaches you can take:
  • Explore  news sites for current environmental issues
  • Consider local issues that you are interested in or impact you​​
Here are a few to get you started. 
  • An endangered species
  • An invasive species
  • A controversial issue like salmon farming
  • The shark debate in WA and around Australia
  • The causes and impact of soil salinity

Unsuitable Topics 

The following topics are considered unsuitable or difficult to research as they are either too broad / complex or there is not enough authoritative information on them. NOTE: These topics are NEVER done successfully so should be avoided.
  • Plastic pollution in the ocean (too general)
  • Disposable coffee cups (not enough authoritative data)
  • Climate change (hard to define)
  • ​Overfishing (too general)
  • Impact of deforestation on the Bornean Orangutan (too difficult to get current data on the various contributing factors leading to their decline)
  • Koala bears (too many locations with varying factors. Data is difficult to get)
  • Disposable nappies (not enough authoritative data)
  • ​Greenhouse gas emissions (too broad / complex)
  • Coral bleaching (too broad)
  • Bushfires - far too difficult to ascertain causes and obtain data.
  • Fast Fashion - from manufacturing t disposal
